I have several foundations I like to pull out of my larrrrrge make up back for different occasions… I don’t believe in a one foundation fits all purpose so here are a few of my favourites and what I used them for….
- BEST FOR LIGHT COVERAGE : M.A.C Face + Body foundation C3 + C9 / Estee lauder double wear Light…. I love to mix a shade to custom blend to my ever changing level of tan, but this MAC foundation is so great for a dewey, light, moisturised and tan finish. I apply this with my M.A.C or Crown stipple brush in circular motions. once applied I love to pop on a bit of C9 to the cheeks and forehead to give me a bit more of a tan sheer glow. Perfect for summer or holidays. Two words of advise, ALWAYS shake before use as it seperates and if you don’t you will end up with a thick bit at the bottom and too much dew on your face…and secondly here in mind this is a dewey foundation and as a dewey foundation don’t expect this to last forever on the skin, it does travel about and products (especially powder products) don’t sit very well on it but for a quick throw on make-you-look-healthy foundation this stays! I have tried several BB’s and non ever have the right yellow tone for me like these do…However I would say if your looking for one with a bit more of a lasting power try Estee lauder double wear light )Im between 3/4 dependant on tan)….I can not recommend this enough, the same sheer colour cover but lasts all day!
- BEST FOR EVERDAY WEAR: M.A.C studio Fix (NC40) This is my absolute go to for every day wear it lasts the right amount of hours and has a great buildable coverage and natural matte satin finish. Products go on great over the top of it and the colour range is fantastic ( I mix with NC50 in the summer). I always apply this with a brush and finish with a beauty blender for an airbrush finish. I always add studio fix powder if I’m going from day to night as it gives a little extra airbrushing effect!
- BEST FOR HEALTHY COLOUR RANGE AND COVERAGE: Cover FX natural finish foundation g50 ( g90 in summer) This is one of my all time favourites, its a little expensive but worth it – although I did prefer there old formulation to the newer one! The coverage is brilliant, the texture is dewey ( but not too much so) and when set with the cover fx setting powder your skin looks like a satin dream! This foundation is great for outside events as it looks so natural but still has great coverage and the colours make you look SO HEALHTY its unreal! My skin has never been or looked healthier with no foundation on then when I used this every day as well, so i found it to be great for the skin!
- BEST FULL COVERAGE: Mehron Celebre Pro HD ( M1, Eurasia Japonais + Chinois for all over, highlight and contour) , RCMA foundation ( shinto palette). Starting with Mehron its great everyday full coverage foundation if you like a thicker coverage, that being said if it applied with a beauty blender or something like the Real techniques brush you can get a thinner coverage that still looks great! A lot of reviews I read before purchasing said clung to dry areas and didn’t last very long, but my skin is dry and although when first applied its much creamier it doesn’t dry to a matter finish, I didn’t mind that ( I didn’t find it clinging to areas). Trying the match your colour online is near on impossible, so I went with 3 different colours an thought I would mix and also get a highlight and contour from that mix also! ( I’ve got a full review on Mehron HD coming soon where I will go more into depth about colours! – But the Eurasia range is great for fellow M.A.C NC ‘s) The foundation lasts a normal amount of time ( not a long lasting but is good enough to last all day when primed and set properly) and the coverage and finish to the skin is amazing! Skin looks flawless and all blemishes and uneven tone is erased! It photographs beautifully and The price and amount of product you get for it is fantastic. I bought mine from Stage door make up online!….RMCA is a little harder to get hold of in the UK, but you can get it from Love make up online, The shinto palette is great for NC’s again and also gives you the contour an highlight. The coverage is full but the texture is incredible like second skin and has a longer lasting powder than mehron!…The price point is a little higher and you get less of it, but the product is spectacular!
Other notable foundations Ive tried are Body Shop Extra virgin minerals (305) which is great for a gorgeous toned, great coverage but good for you finish, and Bare minerals Bare skin (tan13) a lighter foundation that is like a veil for the skin and is the exact same texture of amazing skin, so your face looks like you, but better! ( I have a full review of the latter up now)
